For my Typography Class, I was tasked with typesetting and designing a typographic book cover for a public domain book.  I chose Japanese Fairy Tales, as I learned a lot of them during my Japanese studies. For the design of the book, I wanted to give a modern feeling treatment to contrast with the historic nature of the contents. I also designed the book with the goal of cleanly integrating Japanese type with English type, and specifically chose fonts for both that were similar in character. The cover is of typographic design using Japanese Kanji, and tries to use the characters to represent their meaning in painting a scene of a the sun behind a mountain with tall grass in front.
